Two bronze castings each 45 × 45 × 50cm, two-channel audio, 5:08min, loop
Asked for a commission by my father to create a death mask of his face, I commissioned my death mask vice versa. This collaborative process exceeded the act of depicting individuals towards the creation of an ephemeral sphere of interconnectedness. A particular moment in the process between form and casting – the wax busts wrapped in bubble wrap foil for reasons of material care – was chosen to be casted in bronze as expression of interconnectedness and care against the depiction of two separated individuals. A sound composition recorded by Hans and Johannes accompanies the two bronze castings and situates this work not only as a collaboration of father and son but as the idea of becoming one in the ephemeral sphere.
